The City Café & Bakery opened just off the square in historic downtown Fayetteville in the fall of 1998 by Jorg and Doreen Schatte, natives of Germany but now living and raising their children here in Fayette County.  Since then they've earned a reputation for quality, taste and authentic German specialties as well as American favorites and new culinary delights offered by our own executive chef.  Come in and experience the only authentic German bakery and restaurant in the southern crescent!

We use cutting-edge technology to bring you the very latest in cake decoration; we can add a personalized touch to your next cake or, if you prefer, simply walk into our bakery and pick up one of our ready-made cakes.

The Restaurant

Along with our bakery items, we offer a selection of specialty German and American culinary specialties in our cozy restaurant or scenic patio.
